» Western Nepal: The Maoist released more than 1,000 students abducted to take part a Maoist education programme in Jajarkot. The Maoists released also a WFP representative abducted last month.

» India: The Indian police arrested a group of Maoists in the Indian state of Bihar. Four of the arrested Maoist are central committee members from Bara, Rolpa, Chitwan and Rukum. The Maoist cadres were in Bihar to purchase sophisticated firearms from Indian sister organisations.
» CPN-Maoist leader Prachanda condemned the arrests of revolutionaries by the Indian police.
» Maoist bandhs hits tourism sector.
» CPN-Maoist leader Prachanda siad that the appointment of Sher Bahadur Deuba to the post of Prime Minister is a continuation of regression. The new appointment of the former PM will complicat the national problems.
» New Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba called on Maoist rebels to come back to the negotiating table. The appointed PM will do everything to make peace and hold elections next year.

» Kapilbastu: Maoists rebels attacked the Gorusinge army barrack and the Armed Police Force base in Chandrauta.

» Education strike: Pro-Maoist student union "All Nepal National Independent Students Union -Revolutionary" (ANNISU-R) has called off nationwide strike on education institutions after talks with government officials. The mediation was led by a task force.
» Terrorist tag: Government agreed to lift the 'terrorist' tag attached to ANNISU-R.

» Dang: Maoist rebels attacked a police patrol , killing 18 people, including four civilians. Dozens of people were also reported injured in the landmine blast.
June 22 2004 » Vanished people: PM Deuba met relatives of suspected Maoists who vanished after being taken into custody. There is a list of nearly 1000 persons who have disappeared in custody.
» Peace talks: PM Deuba has quashing speculation over a possible resumption of talks. "There was no point in initiating talks unless success was guaranteed," the PM said.

» RNA operations: RNA forces have launched operations against Maoist rebels in Sankhuwasabha, Ilam, Taplejung, Jhapa, Morang, Dhankuta and Sunsari districts. The Army will destroy Maoist bases and training centers.
» Udayapur: Maoists have freed 140 workers of acement factory . The workes have been abducted by the rebels some days before.
» Bomb: Three school children were killed when a crude bomb exploded as they were playing with it. Maoist rebels are known to leave crude bombs and mines in fields and by roads when retreating from military offensives.

» Peace talks: Leaders of the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Nepali Congress (Democratic) and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party said peace talks with the Maoists are urgently needed to give a logical outlet to the crisis.
» Maoist attack plan: Security personnel has foiled a major Maoist bomb attack at one of the prominent government installations in Kathmandu. RNA has recovered a cache of explosives.
