Bombe: Maoist rebels have hurled a bomb near an Army truck, wounding
at least 16 civilians in Banke district two days ago.

Educational strikes: The All Nepal National Independent Students Union
(Revolutionary) has called off the educational strikes the Maoist-affiliated
organisation imposed on private schools in district headquarters and major
cities along the highways few weeks ago. The strike will remain supended
until September 2005, the ANISU (R) spokesman declared.

Encounters: RNA sources said that the Army has killed Maoist rebels

condemns the arrest of journalists by the authorities and the threatening
of reporters while carrying out their professional duties by the Maoists.

Suicides: Reports say that an increasing number of former Maoist rebels
who have surrendered before the authorities, have taken their own lifes.

Interview: In an interview with an US based website Maoist leader Baburam
Bhattarai stated that the Maoists see no necessity and possibility of any
peace talks with the king. The Maoists prefer that the conflict be resolved
without any external mediation. The Maoists understand that a stable solution
will require the goodwill of all major international players, particularly
our immediate neighbours India and China. |
