July 01 2005 » Bombe: Maoist rebels have hurled a bomb near an Army truck, wounding at least 16 civilians in Banke district two days ago.
» Educational strikes: The All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) has called off the educational strikes the Maoist-affiliated organisation imposed on private schools in district headquarters and major cities along the highways few weeks ago. The strike will remain supended until September 2005, the ANISU (R) spokesman declared.
» Encounters: RNA sources said that the Army has killed Maoist rebels during operations in Myagdi and Dailekh districts.

» Websites blocked: Sources said that an Army team had ordered an ISP to block the websites www.insn.org and www.samudaya.org . The Army spokesman declared the Army was not responsible for this step.
» House arrest: Maoists have kept civilians under house arrest in Dailekh district. The civilians were involved in a UN development programme.
» Geneva Convention: Royal Nepalese Army has accused Maoist leaders of breaching the Geneva Convention on human rights and their own commitment to avoid killing unarmed civilians.
» Human rights: The Royal Nepalese Army has formed teams in each development region to probe into human rights abuses by the army.
» Threats: Kantipur Publications, the largest media enterprise in Nepal, has received serious threats from unknown persons.
» Attack: According to Army sources Maoist rebels have attacked an animal center killing three civilians near Gularia, the headquarters of Bardiya district.
» Journalists: The Centre for Human Rights and Democratic Studies (CEHURDES) condemns the arrest of journalists by the authorities and the threatening of reporters while carrying out their professional duties by the Maoists.
» Suicides: Reports say that an increasing number of former Maoist rebels who have surrendered before the authorities, have taken their own lifes.
» Interview: In an interview with an US based website Maoist leader Baburam Bhattarai stated that the Maoists see no necessity and possibility of any peace talks with the king. The Maoists prefer that the conflict be resolved without any external mediation. The Maoists understand that a stable solution will require the goodwill of all major international players, particularly our immediate neighbours India and China.

» Displaced people: Maoist have locked up at least three dozen houses whose family members had joined the service of security forces in several villages in Panchthar district.
» Ambush: Maoists have ambushed a passenger bus on the road from Charikot (Dolakha district) to Manthali (Ramechhap district). Nobody was killed in the incident.
» Military aid: India's first dispatch of non-lethal military aid since the royal coup in Nepal has arrived in Nepal.
July 07 2005 » Clashes: Security forces killed 3 fighters of the Maoist-affiliated Madhesi Liberation Front in Danusha district.
» Probe: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to investigate the landmine attack on a passenger bus near the Dolakha-Ramechhap district border.
» Apology: The commander of the western division of the Maoist's PLA has begged apology for killing of three civilians in Bardiya district. The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) would take strong actions against the local commanders responsible for this attack.
» Assessment: A United Nations team will visite Nepal to assess the overall situation in the country next week.

» Security : Indian para-military force SSB has tightened security along the Bardiya district following reports that some Nepali Maoist leaders and guerrillas may have crossed the Indian-Nepalese border.
» Ban: Authorities have banned passengers from riding on the back of motorcycles in Kathmandu for security reasons.
» Casualties: Human rights groups rights say casualties due to the armed conflict have gone up outside Kathmandu since February 2005.
