2010
Bhutan received 40,873 high-end tourists in 2010 exceeding its own target of 35,000 tourists for the year by nearly 17% .

Of the total high-end arrivals, Bhutan received a record 28,463 international tourists demonstrating the impact of the tourism initiatives including marketing, promotion and enhancement of quality of services.

2009
Tourist arrivals dropped by 15 percent in 2009 from the year before, prompting people in the industry to call it one of the worst slumps in recent years.

Arrivals fell to 23,480 in 2009, compared to 27,636 tourists in 2008, a drop of 4,156 tourists.

TCB Statistics for 2008

10.3 percent increase in Thimphu Tshechu Visitors

With a steady growth of tourist arrivals in the country in 2008, the Thimphu Tshechu attracted 3,297 visitors, only for the period between 8th to 12th October.

The Paro Tshechu received a total of 2,273 visitors in March 2008, as compared to 1755 in 2007.
