August 01 2005 » Warning: Royal Nepalese Army in Dailekh has warned reporters to publish news accusing the RNA of using minors as spies.
» Protest: News reports say that villagers of three Village Development Committees VDC have staged a protest rally against Maoist atrocities in Dhading district
» Landmine: While local people were trying to reconnect water pipes cut down by Maoist rebels some time ago, a landmine let by suspected Maoists exploded and killed at least one person in Arghakhanchi district.
» Military victory: Senior Maoist leader Baburam Bhattarai said in a interview the CPN-M is not attempting a final military victory right now.
» Strike: Vehicular movement along the Mechi Highway has been affected following a Maoist call of an indefinite strike in the area.

» Abduction: Maoists have abducted about 300 students to participate their programmes in Achham and Baglung districts.
» Human Rights: The most fundamental rights of children in Nepal are being violated routinely, Amnesty international said in a statement.
» Human Rights: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has called on the government to provide compensation to the victims' families. NHCR is urging the government to take action against security personnel involved in killings of unarmed civilians. 275 cases of abductions by Maoists have been registered.
» Roads cleard : Security forces opened the Butwal-Palpa road, which was blockaded by Maoist rebels.
» Security : Security forces clashed with Maoist rebels during scurity operations in Bajhang district.
Aug 07 2005 » Abductions: Maoists have abducted civilians from Bajura, Doti, Rolpa and Taplejung districts. Nepalese media reported that five youngsters escaped the Maoists. Accordings to these sources the Maoists forced them to join their people's militia.
» Clashes: Maoist rebels attacked a road construction task force of RNA in Kalikot district.
» Killkings: Maoists shot dead two police personnel in front of a highway restaurant in Jhapa district.
» Confidence : The seven-party alliance is gradually building confidence with the Maoists, CPN-UML General secretary Kumar said.
» No press freedom: Maoists have prohibited the distribution of a daily newspaper in Ilam district.
» Attack: Maoists attacked a police post injuring at least seven policemen in Banepa of Kavre district.

» Talks: The Government is always ready to resolve the ongoing Maoist problem through dialogue, the Vice-Chairman of the Nepali Council of Ministers K.N. Bista said.
» Clashes: There could have been heavy casualty on both the sides during fierce clashes between security forces and Maoist rebels in Kalikot, reports said.
» Closed factories: The tea gardens and factories of Jhapa and Ilam are still closed due to Maoist threats. Thousands of tea pickers are without jobs and are struggling to survive.

» Kalikot clash 1: A large number of Maoist rebels had raided the temporary base camp of Royal Nepal Army (RNA) set up for the construction of the Surkhet-Jumla Road on Sunday. According to RNA sources the Maoist rebels attacked non-combatant RNA personnel involved in road constructions. After the clash RNA had found the bodies of 40 army soldiers killed by Maoist rebels while 76 other soldiers were still missing.
» Kalikot clash 2: The rebels said that they had killed 159 security personnel and captured another 50 in the firefight. The commander of PLA's Western Central Command said in a statement that the Maoist forces had achieved a major victory in the attack at the army base in Kalikot district ." The army rejected the claim. No independent verification was possible on the spot.
» Kalikot clash 3: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has started initial investigation into the incident of Maoist attack on a security base camp at Pili of Kalikot district .
» Strike called off: he Maoist-affiliated All Nepal Trade Union Federation (ANTUF) has withdrawn an indefinite strike called more than three weeks ago in the Mechi zone. All tea-estates, tea-factories and transport resumed operations.
» Maoists' threat : The US ambassador to Nepal James F. Moriarty said that the Maoist insurgency posed a threat to regional stability in South Asia. He has warned King Gyanendra to return the country to democracy or face a slide towards chaos.
» Clash: Security forces and Maoist rebels clashed during a RNA operation in Baitadi district.
