DRAGONAIR
TO START SERVICES TO KATHMANDU IN DECEMBER
Dragonair
today announced that it is relaunching scheduled services to Kathmandu,
the capital city of Nepal, on December 2. Flights will operate four times
(Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday) a week using an Airbus A320 aircraft.
"We
are delighted to be flying back to Kathmandu, a destination we first started
serving in 1989," said Chief Executive Officer Kenny Tang.
"As
Nepal continues to grow in popularity with travellers from around the world,
we have decided that this is the right time to resume services to this
fascinating country."

SILKAIR
TO FLY TO KATHMANDU
Customers
can now enjoy direct flights between Kathmandu and Singapore
SilkAir,
the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, will introduce a three-times weekly
service between Singapore and Kathmandu from 30 October 2007.
Flights
will leave Singapore every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, at 0910 hours
and will arrive in Kathmandu at 1205 hours (local time).
Flights
out of Nepal's capital will depart at 1305 hours, arriving in Singapore
at 2015 hours (local time).
There
are presently no direct air services between both countries.

Rising
tourist inflow and Nepalese laborers fueled the shortage of air-seats.
There is lack of airline seats. Most of the airlines flying to Nepal are
packed.
Qatar
Airways operating 11 flights a week on Doha-Kathmandu route is packed until
June 2007.
Gulf
Air, which has seven flights every week to Kathmandu fromBahrain, said
most of its flights are packed until December 2007. Austrian Airlines will
stop operating its direct flights from Vienna from 17 May 2007. The airline
generally operates seasonal flights from Nepal to Europe for eight months
a year - from mid-September to mid-May.

Airlines Corporation has reduced the number of flights in eastern Nepal,
stopped its regular flights from the Phaplu airport in Solukhumbu. The
NAC has also crossed off Phaplu from its domestic flight list. |

operator Yeti Airlines has received permission from Nepal's government
to launch international flights to Bangkok, Seoul, Sharjah, Paro and
Lhasa. It remains to be seen how Yeti performs. Yeti Airlines will start its international flights from winter 2007. |

to the latest data posted by the Tribhuvan International Airport, visitors'
inflow to Nepal by air for the month of November 2006 recorded an increase
of 6.9% compared to the same period last year. |
Likewise, airlines
like Air Arabia, Korean air, GMG (Bangladesh), Orient Thai, Ethical and
Sri Lankan airlines are all set to introduce new flights to Nepal,
thus indicating a rise in the confidence of tourists in Nepal.
Now
with peace back, the tourism industry is possibly looking at a windfall.
Currently, all flights to Nepal via Europe are overbooked.
