Some Hints
Trekking routes and activities are by and large not affected by the ongoing conflict situation.
Travelling in groups will make you less vulnerable to theft and assault and will assist you greatly in the event of an accident. It also helps not to be alone in the face of Maoist demands for money on the main trekking routes.
When planning for a trek you should keep your itinerary flexible. There are strikes and transport blockades every day in one or the other district. These activities are a real problem for tourists in the country.
Air travel, to Lukla, Jomosom etc. is fairly reliable and not affected by these strikes.
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) will made special transportation arrangements for air passengers and tourists to and from Tribhuvan International Airport during curfew or strike periods.

NTB has requested all tourist and air passengers to contact its valley command office at telephone number (977-1) 4220000 to get information of the route of the transportation services.
