A
new landmark in Swiss-Bhutan cooperation: New bridge in Wangduephodrang

The
approach to Wangduephodrang is dramatic. On the left ridge the contours
of the dzong etches an unforgettable sky-line. On the right, the well known
Rinchengang terraces slope steeply up beyond the tree-line. On the valley
floor, the Tsangchu meanders deceptively as it gathers momentum for the
rapids towards Tsirang.
The
Crown Prince Dasho Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck formally opened a new
element in this landscape: the Wangdue-Tsangchu Zam, which is widely seen
as a blend of tradition and modernity, also representative of Bhutan's
development philosophy.
