over the world people have been knowing the Nepal country with the Mt.
Everest (Top of the world: 8848m). The Nepali name of Everest is Sagarmatha ("Brow of the Ocean"). The Sherpa name is Chumolungma ("Mother Goddess
of the word").
The
Everest region is the main trekking destination in the Khumbu region which is situated northeast of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. This area
is a save place for trekking.

to its visitors an amazing landscape in the midst of Mt. Everest,
Nuptse (third highest peak of Nepal), Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Makalu,
Island Peak, Cho-Oyu, Mt. Pumori, Thamserku, Touche Peak and the Gokyo
Lakes.

The Gokyo Valley is located in the western part of Khumbu and it is far less
developed and crowded than its better known neighbour to the east.
Gokyo
valley has a permanent settlement and the local people are living in their
traditional way. |

Sherpas are main ethnic group for this region who are living around Khumbu. They
have their own culture. Sherpa people are wearing a traditional dress
within their community which is surrounded by monasteries. Some other ethnic
groups , e.g. Raj, Tamang, Braman and Chhettri, are living in this area. |

- Gokyo Trek: Gokyo and its lakes have a impressing
scenery. The area is attracting a lot of foreign visitors every year. Gokyo
is situated northwest from Namche Bazaar in western Khumbu. It is far less
developed and crowded than the better known Everest area to the east. Along
the trails you can enjoy the world's highest mountains. |

The
flora and fauna who will be found in this region, is depending on the altitude.
From 3500m to 4000 m there are a dense forests with pines, oaks and the
spectacular blooming rhododendrons. During spring time all the hills are
covered with rhododendron flowers in different colours. The wildlife
in the Everest region is dominated by a lot of species of birds. Sometimes
trekkers can see a musk deer or a Himalaya Tahr and hear a roaring deer. |
